"The idea of writing a novel was born several years ago. My patients were sometimes joking that if Beethoven had been alive in our times, I would have certainly known how to help him and could have done that. Although I am sure that the composer would have received the best help possible at the World Hearing Centre, the question that always preoccupied me was whether he would then have created so many beautiful pieces of work that people admire so much today. That thought eventually resulted in me starting the work on a script for a fiction film and a novel about the achievements of modern science, medicine and my patients, intertwined with Beethoven's autobiographical elements and memories." Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, author of the book.
