One of them was Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, a specialist in otosurgery, otolaryngology for children and adults, audiology, and phoniatrics. The jury presented him with an honorary title – “Hercules,” in recognition of his contributions to promoting and implementing innovative methods of diagnosing and treating hearing impairment in Poland and worldwide.
– Professor, you’ve become a “Hercules,” but in my opinion, we should call you Polish Leonardo da Vinci. You are extremely versatile: you write poems, paint, and even stage an opera. You take care of both your child and adult patients. You also devote yourself to organizing the “Health of Poles” Congress. I want to congratulate you from myself and on behalf of the community of medical journalists. Please accept our humble award, the “Hercules” honorary title – said Izabela Rej, the president of the “Polish Pharmacy” Chamber of Commerce during the laudation.
– It is customary that an individual comes to the stage, receives the award, and gives thanks for the recognition. But behind this success is a team I’ve been leading continuously for 30 years. I am accepting this award with many people in mind: those who have worked in our team and do not do so anymore, those who are part of it right now, and those who are just starting to work with us and who might turn out to be better than us. Once again, I would like to say thank you for this recognition. I also want to thank my family, as without them, I wouldn’t accomplish so much and be here today – said Prof. Henryk Skarżyński while accepting the award.
Right after accepting the award, the Professor left for the airport to join an international group of experts implementing the latest solutions. – I am glad that thanks to the fact that for the last 20 years, we’ve been performing the most surgeries for hearing loss in the world, Polish patients have access to the latest solutions as one of the first – said Prof. Henryk Skarżyński.
The Medical Journalists Association has been organizing the “Medical Journalist of the Year” nationwide competition in Poland for 16 years.
