– I believe that success largely depends on the organization of work, which is not easy but possible. – Prof. Henryk Skarżyński said during the Gala. – This results from developing effective therapies, hundreds of which we have implemented in our facility from scratch. We provide many medical services in response to the existing demand. About 20,000 patients are waiting in line for our services. Only in our Center, during 25 years of clinical activity, the number of patients admitted for hospitalization has increased from a few hundred to more than 15 thousand, and the number of surgical procedures has risen from about a thousand to more than 20 thousand. Since 2003, we have been performing the largest number of hearing-improving surgeries in the world annually and have provided more than 4.5 million tests and consultations. I have personally operated on more than 220,000 patients. – Professor added.
The competition promotes individuals, institutions, hospitals, NGOs, and companies that have contributed to the propagation of new ideas, solutions and technologies affecting the safety of patients and hospital employees. Hospitals, local government bodies, NGOs, companies, and individuals can submit nominations. The winners, from among duly submitted nominees, are selected by the Chapter, composed of persons who cherish the idea of safety, innovation, and modern solutions in health care.
More than 100 projects qualified for the finals this year. In the current edition, the Chapter chaired by dr. n. med. Marek Tombarkiewicz, Director of the National Institute of Geriatrics, Rheumatology, and Rehabilitation in Warsaw evaluated projects in 7 categories.
Another edition of the competition proved that despite many difficulties faced by Polish hospitals at all levels of the network and different manner of functioning, there is an abundance of ideas, activities, and a will for showcasing and comparing with the others.
