On 22-23 September 2016 in Bishkek (Kirgizstan) took place the VII Congress of Pediatricians of the Commonwealth of Independent States titled ‘The child and the society: problems of health, development and nutrition’ and the International Scientific Conference dedicated to 55^th anniversary of the National Center of Mother and Child established by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kirgizstan.

Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, representing with a team the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing, had been invited to chair the session dedicated to problems of deafness and hearing loss in children. In the session participated also the representatives of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing presenting following lectures: Assoc. Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński „Modern possibilities of treatment of hearing disorders”, Dr. Roman Barylyak „Possibilities of surgical treatment of the otitis media with effusion”, Dr. Adam Walkowiak „Remote fitting of cochlear implants”, Agnieszka Pankowska „Rehabilitation of patients after cochlear implantation”.

During the Congress Prof. Henryk Skarżyński had been awarded with a title of the Honorary Professor of the National Center of Mother and Child in Bishkek in recognition of his merits and willingness to share knowledge and experience with doctors in Kirgizstan. The title had been bestowed by the director of the Center, Uzakbaev Kamchibek Askarbekovich and the Scientific Council of the Center. Moreover, Prof. Henryk Skarżyński and Assoc. Prof. Piotr Skarżyński had received the commemorative gold medals minted of the occasion of the 55th Anniversary of the National Institute of Mother and Child in Bishkek. It is worth mentioning that Prof. Skarżyński and his team have been since several years involved in the activities related to promoting health and treatment in Asia, Africa and central Europe. Kirgizstan is a good example of such country benefiting from the development of different forms of telemedicine.
