{"id":18253,"date":"2015-05-28T13:39:31","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T13:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/henrykskarzynski.pl\/?p=18253"},"modified":"2018-06-26T18:34:28","modified_gmt":"2018-06-26T18:34:28","slug":"lion-the-10th-global-otology-neurotology-live-surgical-broadcast-in-the-world-hearing-center-in-kajetany-on-12-may-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/henrykskarzynski.pl\/?p=18253&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"LION: the 10th Global Otology \u2013 Neurotology Live Surgical Broadcast in the World Hearing Center in Kajetany on 12 May, 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>LION: the 10th Global Otology \u2013 Neurotology Live Surgical Broadcast in the World Hearing Center in Kajetany on 12\u00a0May, 2015. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 12\u00a0May, 2015, the tenth annual world-wide visioconference LION Global Otology \u2013 Neurotology Live Surgical Broadcast took place, with life presentations of the newest oto- and neurotological surgical techniques by\u00a0the best surgeons from the leading centers located all over the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The LION project, initiated in 2006, is aimed to\u00a0use the modern teleconferencing technology solutions to\u00a0improve the level of continuing education in otolaryngology globally. It involves permanent interactive worldwide education network providing an immediate access to\u00a0the knowledge and experience of international experts in otology and neurotology to\u00a0any physician who can use a\u00a0computer with internet access. Key element of this system are the yearly visioconferences with participation of otosurgeons representing the elite centers worldwide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During this year\u2019s LION Broadcast, 32\u00a0demonstration surgeries were presented from best otology surgery centers in France, Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, the Netherlands, Brazil, Sweden, Turkey, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. From the World Hearing Center there were two surgeries transmitted, performed by\u00a0Prof.\u00a0Henryk Skar\u017cy\u0144ski: cochlear implantation in partial deafness treatment (with Med-El Flex electrode) and ossiculoplasty with glassionomer cement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These surgeries were observed by\u00a0several thousand participants in the entire world, either in conference rooms in hospitals and medical universities, or watching the broadcast through the internet. The World Hearing Center gave for the disposal of participants a\u00a0modern teleconference studio with specialized equipment which enabled not only watching the surgeries, but also discussing with instructors.
