The 2nd<\/sup> International conference \u201cMedTrends 2016 \u2013 British-Polish Health Forum\u201d<\/a> took place on March 18-19, 2016 in Zabrze. Professor Henryk Skar\u017cy\u0144ski delivered an invited lecture titled \u201cComprehensive examination of senses \u2013 new telemedical technologies\u201c. The information about the senses examination capsule which is created in the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing<\/a> as part of the EU programme STRATEGMED attracted a lot of attention.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

– <\/em><\/strong>The capsule is an integrated system of tools for diagnostics and telerehabilitation of sensory-organ disorders \u2013 problems with hearing, vision, speech, balance, taste and smell<\/em> \u2013 explained Professor Henryk Skar\u017cy\u0144ski. \u2013 There is no similar system in the world. It will allow performing examinations of the most important senses in one place and within a short time. In order to diagnose sensory disorders, patients must visit many medical centres \u2013 they must wait long months for each appointment. Many people resign from treatment because the diagnostic process is so cumbersome. <\/em>\u2013 said Professor Skar\u017cy\u0144ski.<\/p>\n

During his lecture, Professor Henryk Skar\u017cy\u0144ski talked also about the history and achievements of the Institute. He also listed issues related to his own method of partial deafness treatment.<\/p>\n

This cutting-edge diagnostic and rehabilitation capsule, which could be placed in different centres, will contribute to the promotion and improvement of access to preventive medical examination of people with many sensory disorders and their rehabilitation.<\/p>\n

The main aim of the European conference \u201cMedTrands 2016\u201d<\/a>, which was attended by the leading experts in the field of oncology, neurology, otolaryngology, cardiology, genomics, was to exchange knowledge and experience between representatives of the sector of science, medicine, new technology and telemedicine solutions, who came from Poland and other European countries. They could discuss the implementation and directions in the development of modern solutions in medicine, with particular emphasis on e-health tools, personalized medicine and e-education. The organizers of the conference were Medical Technology Park Kardio-Med Silesia<\/a> and Silesian Centre for Heart Disorders.<\/a><\/p>\n
